The latest Vogue Knitting is out, and there's a shawl pattern of mine in it! It's a very simple shawl because there was a one month deadline (eek) which eventually got extended (wish I had known that, and I could have done something really crazy).
Anyway, this is what it looks like. I love their grey-haired model! The yarn is Colinette Cadenza in Alizarine which is really quite bright but easy to work with.
And this is a close-up of the border stitch pattern from my original swatch:
Happy New Year everybody!
Congratulations! Can't wait for my copy to arrive. [Wow, the folks at VK really like bright colors, eh? ;) ]
Posted by: Janice at January 2, 2008 1:14 PMI am sooooooo! happy for you - that looks like a gorgeous pattern! I've really cut back on the knit mag buying but this will have to be the exception (ok Cookie you enabler :)).
Posted by: Terry at January 2, 2008 1:57 PMWow Cookie, it's stunning! Congrats!
I have a Q about the Red Thread socks...I totally love them! but can they be knit without the red thread? I have a male friend who I think would love them in the original colors but sans red thread. Please say yes cause i am totally jonesing for the sock kit and have been ever since you posted about it! Ah, Christmas $$ rock!
Hope your holidays were wonderful and Happy New Year!
PS - did you see my finished Twisted Flowers in the Smooshy? Pretty dishy, huh? :)
Posted by: Debi at January 2, 2008 2:33 PMCongrats on the pattern! It's pretty. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Posted by: monica at January 2, 2008 4:54 PMThat does it! I will definitely renew my subscription to Vogue Knitting. Congratulations, Cookie. It looks great! I wonder what would've happened if you had more time. It boggles my mind.
Posted by: Pauline at January 2, 2008 4:59 PMI just picked up my copy tonight and saw your beautiful shawl pattern. Your close-up is stunning! It's too bad they didn't show a close-up in the mag.
Posted by: Ellen at January 2, 2008 5:43 PMBeautiful work. I can't wait to get my copy of this mag.
Posted by: Loopykd at January 2, 2008 5:54 PMCongratulations! That's another reason for me to be glad of the VK subscription I got for Christmas -- can't wait for it to arrive!

Posted by: Kris at January 2, 2008 8:11 PMCongratulations! I'm totally buying a copy as soon as I see it.
Alizarine is such a fun color. I'm knitting my daughter a sweater out of this color after she saw Purlescence Yarn's sample one.
What color is your swatch done in? I'd love to do a shawl in that shade.
Posted by: C. at January 2, 2008 8:44 PMMy little Cookie is all grown up and is a big time designer now, Woot!
Posted by: yarnsnob at January 2, 2008 10:07 PMWow, I didn't realize it was so big when I saw you working on it! The close up of the stitch pattern is intriguing. :)
Posted by: Abigail at January 2, 2008 10:58 PMWhat a gorgeous shawl. You did a terrific job on it. I love the border stitch thanks for including the close-up. Now all I have to do is escape my plague ridden house (can you say sick kids?) so that I can hit B&N and buy the new Vogue.
