'Tis the Season Posted by Kristi at 9:23 AM (9 Comments)

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Christmas. Andy and I went up to Seattle to celebrate with my family, which was a lot of fun. It even snowed on Christmas day! No new pictures of the snow here -- it kind of all looks the same!

Before we left, I finished up some spinning but just didn't have time to post before heading out the door (though, as it turned out, our flight was delayed by 2 hours, so I guess I could have). Anyway, I spun up 8 ounces of Louet Wool in the camouflage colorway. Cookie got me this fiber for Christmas last year, so I thought it would be good to finish it up before Christmas this year. You know, I wouldn't want all that fiber just sitting around -- what if there was new fiber this Christmas?

You can see the set of photos on Flickr, too.

You know, actually, there is still fiber from last Christmas waiting to be spun. From both Cookie and Andy's mom. I guess that's why I am working on spinning the fiber I already own, right?

Lo and behold, new fiber this Christmas. I got in my head that I really wanted to spin something to make Jeanie from Knitty, and Abigail and Cookie obliged by sending me TWO Sheep 2 Shoe Kits in the Rauen Colorway. I had a hard time photographing this, but it is a nice deep black with hints of orange-y brown and pink-y red.

Thanks again, guys!

Before I head off to celebrate the New Year, here's a photo of my most recent spinning. This is superwash merino from Carrie at Funky Carolina in the Royal colorway:

Happy New Year to everyone!

I am so jealous - of the snow and your spinning. The colors are great. I managed to get in a little spinning the other day but I am still finishing up a couple of gifts. Actually, I am finishing one and re-knitting the other due to largeness. ; )
Happy New Year

That fiber is going to make a beautiful Jeanie! I can't wait to see it in progress. I will, though, wait that is. :)

Love the colors! Love your sock designs, which are so striking and unique. Do you have any of them available for toe-up construction? Thank you for the inspiration.

You are a spinning machine! The new yarn is pretty, nice colorway. Very sunny, perfect for winter in Colorado! I can't wait to see the new fiber spun up, it should be beautiful. I am so itching to get Jeanie started. Soon I will be done with the damnable mittens. Soon.

Happy New Year! Have a safe trip back to Colorado. :)
